Refer to some rules and how to play in the Chinese Chess game

Rules of chess pieces movement in Chinese Chess:

  • Chess: Each country moves one square, either horizontal or vertical. Chess is always in range. "Palace" consists of 4 small squares with diagonal lines.
  • Si: Go diagonally, one box for each country. Si is always in the "Palace" like a General.
  • Statue: Go diagonally 2 cells per country, horizontally or vertically. Statues are not allowed to cross the river to the opponent's chessboard. The move of the Statue is not valid when there are chess pieces blocking the road.
  • Car: Move sideways or along the board as long as no other troops are blocking the way.
  • Code: Move 2 cells across and move 1 square along (or 2 cells across and 1 across) for each move. If there is another piece lying next to the code and blocking the second line or the vertical line 2, then the code cannot go that way.
  • Cannon: Move horizontal or vertical like a Xe. Another difference is that when Cannon wants to eat the opponent's piece, there should be a piece in between.
  • Good: Go one box per country. If Pawn does not cross the river, only go straight ahead. When crossing a river, one may cross or go straight forward, one country at a time, but not backward.
  • Troops: When an opponent moves to an standing position of an opponent, the opponent is eaten and taken off the board.
  • Anti-champion: 2 generals on the table cannot be on the same vertical column without the Stop piece in the middle. It is not legal for a move to place two generals in an anti-general position.

Finish the match in the game of chess:

  • Checkmate: If one side shows (captures General) and the opponent is no longer able to support. The checkmate wins.
  • Out of water: If a station has a turn but there is no valid water to go, that party will lose.
  • When one or both parties violate advanced law.

Some terms of chess game:

  • Checkmate: Any move that causes the opponent's General to be eaten in the next country.
  • Troop: A piece will move to a position that can capture an opponent of the same type of opponent and then that piece can be captured again if the opponent wants.
  • Chase: A piece moves to a position where it can capture any opponent's piece (except General) in the next country. Or a move to make artillery pieces for the enemy.
  • Protected piece: A discarded piece is called a guard if the opponent's chasing piece can be eaten back in the next water. Except for the case that a vehicle is never called protected when it is chased by an enemy's Cannon or Horse.

High rule in chess:

All countries that follow the basic law are valid except for the following:

  • Persistent: Continuous projection of one or more of your pieces is not valid
  • Chasing: Continuous chasing an opponent's piece with one or more of your pieces is not valid.
  • When one party violates a higher law and the other does not, the violating party loses.
  • When both violate the higher rules, the game is settled.
  • When one side violates the long projection law, one side violates the long chasing law, the long side is defeated.

The chess rule allows the limit of one side to show or chase 6 consecutive countries with 1 piece, 12 consecutive countries with 2 pieces and 18 consecutive countries with 3 pieces. If the limit is exceeded, a premium law will apply.

Law of conciliation in Chinese Chess:

When both sides are unable to win, the player should decide to tie the game. To avoid a game that lasts too long, the Chinese Chess Law provides 3 cases for settlement:

  • Effective Rule: When the total number of moves is equal to 120 (not counting the chasing and playing moves, as well as the dealing with chasing and playing moves).
  • Progress Rule: When the total number of moves since the last time the game has progressed is 30. The progression is when a card is captured or when a pawn has crossed the river and taken a step forward.
  • Moves Rule: When the total number of moves of a game is 300.
