CoreTemp is a free and portable application that does not require installation, can monitor CPU temperature. Only a single executable file is about 500KB in size, you can use it whenever you suspect a CPU is overheating.

This app doesn't have a temperature graph, but it does record temperature information so you can create graphs with another app.

One of the useful features of CoreTemp is the System Information dialog, which displays a lot of information about your CPU. You can know the exact voltage of any CPU core. One thing I noticed with this dialog was that my CPU speed increased in one core, while the other core had a lower clock speed. That happens even when the computer is not working much.
