Every day, when working with computers connected to the Internet (Internet or intranet), we often face software intrusion systems to monitor or advertise. This is unsettling and uncomfortable for many people. There have been many programs designed to prevent this situation, DriveSentry is one of such programs. In addition to being able to combat software installation and illegal system modifications, DriveSentry is also effective against data copying.

Setting:

Activate DriveSentry.exe file, click Next, select 'I agree .', click NextInstallFinish.

Create an account:

The first run after installation, the program requires you to create an account, click the 'Create Advisor Account' button, fill in the information (username, password, security code .) into each corresponding box. Follow the instructions and press 'Create'. If the account has been created properly, DriveSentry will display three options on how to configure the rules for the program, select 'Use Default Rules', 'Run Protection Wizard', or 'Configure DriveSentry Manually'. If you are using DriveSentry for the first time, you should choose the 'Run Protection Wizard' for step by step instructions on configuring the program rules. Done this step as if you already have an account and login DriveSentry.

Using:

Lock file:

Select the Protection tool, click on the 'Files' icon then select the 'Advanced' tab, then click on the 'Add' button to select the file to be locked. The default mode of DriveSentry when locking a file is to lock it in the 'prompt' form, which means a notice asking for permission to use it when there is a program to access the file. To open a locked file, the user must login to DriveSentry and press the 'Allow' button to access the file. You can also lock a specific file type, for example .DOC, .AVI, etc. You can use the 'Add file' button on the 'Standard' tab to select the file to be locked. A locked file will not allow copying or editing on it. However, during locking, you can allow one or several programs to process on that file by going to the 'Advanced' tab, selecting the file and selecting the authorized program in the 'Check program to grant access' window. .

Folder lock:

Similar to locking files, click on the 'Folders' icon, click on the 'Add folder' button and select the folder. When selecting a folder, the program will ask 'Do you choose the sub-directory as well?', Click 'Yes' to agree or 'No' otherwise.

Lock settings in Windows:

Click the 'Settings' icon, you see there are 3 settings in Windows that are locked by default, which are Internet settings, systems and startup programs. When you install DriveSentry, these settings are automatically protected, no program is allowed to access, modify. If you want to add or change these settings, go to the 'Advanced' tab, click on the drop-down menu (in the File menu) and select Registry. Then, click the 'Add' button to select the Registry folder to lock.

When you need to unlock a file, folder or setting in Windows, simply select the file or folder to open, then press the 'Remove' or 'Deselect all' button if you want to open all the settings in Windows.

Set up access rules for the program:

In Access tool, you can create rules or revise access rules that DriveSentry has defined for the program. Click on the 'Access rules' tab, you will see the window on the left showing the program name, click on each program to see their rules displayed in the right window. To create access rules for a program, select the program and then press the 'New rule' button, then create rules in the 'rule editor' dialog box. The rules you have to create are as follows:

  • Rule type: Includes file access rules, mobile device access rules, and Registry access rules.
  • How to access (Access): Access on files, folders, drives, and access anywhere (Anywhere).
  • Access rights (Permissions): Include allow (allow), and deny (deny).

After creating the rules, click the 'Create' button. When you need to edit the rules of a program, select the program you want to edit, click the rule name in the 'Rule' dialog box (right window), then click on the 'Edit rule' button to edit, done. Click the 'Apply' button.

In the display interface of Access tool, if you see a missing program in the 'Program name' list, you can add it by clicking the 'Add Program' button, finding the program to add and then clicking the Add

In the Options tool, you are allowed to edit some of the program's default options such as changing accounts, adding accounts, changing notification dialog colors, etc.
