Eclipse IDE or Eclipse is the integrated development environment (IDE) used for computer programming and is the most widely used Java IDE today.
The Eclipse IDE includes a basic workspace and an extended plug-in system to customize the environment. Eclipse is written primarily in the Java language and used to develop Java applications, but it is also used for many other programming languages through plug-ins, including Ada, ABAP, C, C ++, C #, COBOL, D, Fortran, Haskell, JavaScript, Julia, Lasso, Lua, NATURAL, Perl, PHP, Prolog, Python, R, Ruby (including Ruby in the Rails framework), Rust, Scala, Clojure, Groovy, Scheme or Erlang. Eclipse is also used for text development with LaTeX (via the TeXlipse plug-in) and Mathematica software packages. The development environment includes the Eclipse Java development tool (JDT) for Java and Scala, Eclipse CDT for C / C ++ and Eclipse PDT for PHP .
Users can easily integrate programming languages and features in the Eclipse IDE into any default package, Eclipse Marketplace allows unlimited customization and expansion of the virtual environment.
Codebase was originally developed based on IBM Visual Age.The Eclipse Software Development Kit (SDK) includes Java development tools, which are the main vehicle for Java developers. They can be extended by installing written plug-ins for the Eclipse Platform, such as toolkits for developing other programming languages, being able to write and develop existing plugin modules.
The Eclipse Software Development Kit (SDK) is free and open source software, released under the terms of the Eclipse Public License but not compatible with the GNU General Public License. Eclipse was one of the first IDEs to run on GNU Classpath and had no problems using IcedTea.
Feature of Eclipse IDE
