Use your mouse to move the fish you control to eat smaller fish. Eat lots of fish smaller than yourself to grow, with status bar showing status. After a period of time, the fish will grow bigger according to that status bar.

Note if the larger fish to eat, the point is deducted and reduce the number of lives down. If you run out of life you will lose. Eating pearls in shellfish scores more than eating fish. Eat 1 up, then add 1 network. Eat starfish every time the mermaid swims across to get more points.
