Before installing, the Password dialog box of GiliSoft Privacy Protector appears asking you to declare the admin password, along with an email to find the password (if you forget it). You enter the password in the two boxes Type a password and Retype your password , email address in the two boxes Email address and Retype email address , then click Next .

How to install GiliSoft Privacy Protector

1. Run the installation program.

2. Set your GiliSoft Privacy Protector account password.

For example, the password is 12345678.

3. Then follow the instructions to complete the installation.

Advice :

Make sure you remember your password or keep it in a safe place because you cannot run this program without a password.

Email addresses are optional, but if you enter them, you can retrieve your forgotten password.

How to uninstall GiliSoft Privacy Protector

1. Click the " Uninstall GiliSoft Privacy Protector " button.

2. Enter the uninstall password. For example: 12345678.

3. Click the OK button to continue the uninstall process.

Advice :

If you uninstall the program, the locked data will not be protected.

Before uninstalling the program, please back up the data on the personal drive to a safe location.

How to hide files / folders / hard drives

Use the main window :

1. Click " GiliSoft Privacy Protector " to start the program.

2. Enter the password and click " OK " button. For example, the password is 12345678.

3. When using the Hide Data Options, you can select and hide any files, folders, and hard drives that are available on your computer.

3.1. Hide file :

Select Hide Files options.

Click the " Add Files " button to add the files to the list.

Select the files you want to make hidden.

Click the " Hide Files " button to finish hiding the document.

3.2. Hide folder :

Select Hide Folders options.

Click the " Add Folders " button to add the folder to the list.

Select the folders you want to make hidden.

Click the " Hide Folders " button to complete the process of hiding folders.

3.3. Hide hard drive:

Select Hide Drives options.

Select the drives you want to make hidden.

Click the " Hide Drives " button to complete the process of hiding the hard drive.

Use the Explorer Context Menu

1. Right-click the file / folder you want to hide.

2. Click the menu folder " Gilisoft Privacy Protector -> Hide it ".

3. Enter the password to finish hiding the data.

How to display hidden files / folders / hard drives

Use Hide Data options to select and display any hidden files, folders and hard drives on your computer.

Show hidden files :

1. Select Hide Files options.

2. Select the hidden files you want to display.

3. Click the " Show Files " button to display these hidden documents.

Show hidden folders :

1. Select Hide Folders options.

2. Select the folders you want to display.

3. Click the "Show Folders" button to display the hidden folders.

Show hidden hard drive :

1. Select Hide Drives options.

2. Select the hidden hard disks you want to display.

3. Click the " Show Drives " button to display the hidden hard drives.

Every time you start GiliSoft Privacy Protector, you need to correctly declare the admin password you have set before you can access the program interface, with the cards corresponding to each of the following feature groups :

1. Hide Data: 'Stealth' data

The Hide Data tab helps you hide important files and folders from others' eyes. To do so, choose Hide Files (hide files) or Hide Folders (hide folders). Then, click Add Files (or Add Folders) and select the object to hide. Done, just click Hide Files (or Hide Folders), the selected data will 'evaporate'. When you need to show hidden files and folders again, tick them and then click Show Files (or Show Folders).

In addition, the Hide Data tab also has a Hide Drives section that helps you hide a drive on your computer. The usage is very simple: you just need to tick the important drive and then click Hide Drives .

2. Lock Data: Lock files securely

Instead of evaporating important data, the Lock Data tab allows you to quickly lock files, folders, and drives to prevent unauthorized access by others. You only need to select one of three objects to be locked: Lock Files (file lock), Lock Folders (folder lock), Lock Drives (lock the drive). The implementation is similar to the Hide Data tab.

When you open a file, or access a locked folder or drive, other people will see an error message box and can't see the content.

3. Write-Protected: Prevent writing and erasing data

If you are afraid of others deleting or editing the content of the file, click the Write-Protected tab and select Protect Files . Next, click Add Files , find the files to be protected, then click Protect Files . Similarly, if you want to apply the write protection mode, delete files on the folder / drive, select Protect Folders and Protect Drives .

When others try to edit the contents of the file, folder, an Access Denied error dialog box will appear.

4. Private Disk: 'Safe' contains the file

When you click My Disks , you will see the names of some virtual drives created by GiliSoft Privacy Protector such as My Documents, My Pictures, My Music, My Videos, My Games. You can use these drives to save important files. After saving, you 'remove' the drive from Windows Explorer so no one knows.

You select one of the virtual drives available, then click Open to open and copy more files into it. Done, click Close to close the drive.

Note: You can open multiple virtual drives at the same time, the name of each drive just for you to identify. The volume of files in the virtual drive will be 'accumulated' to the drive where Windows is installed.

5. Safe Delete: Delete files safely

To permanently delete certain files (cannot be restored), click Delete Files , select Add Files and select the corresponding file, then click Secure Delete . Similarly, if you want to permanently delete the folder, choose Add Folders .

Besides, the Wipe Disks section allows you to delete all data on the partition. You tick the partition and click Secure Delete to delete.

Want to be more secure, click Clean Free Space program to wipe out the entire amount of free space, ensuring no residual of deleted files.

6. Eraser History: Delete file access history, Internet

The Internet History tab allows you to erase all traces of your computer usage: Windows History (clear history of opened files, empty the recycle bin), Application History (access history on common software such as Adobe Reader, Yahoo! Messenger, WinZip, .), Internet History (visited websites, account login information, cookies in IE). You select the items to delete and then press Eraser to perform.

7. Change the admin password

If you need to change your GiliSoft Privacy Protector login password, select the General tab, enter the new password in both the Password and Confirm Password boxes, and click Change (check the Notify to email box to receive notifications of password change via email) ). To change your email address, enter your new address in the E-Mail Address box and click Change .
