Instructions for use and tips for Inkist for iPad:

Inkist drawing board

On the top row of the brush palette are 4 main brush tools: draw, erase, coordinate and draw lines. The entire brush below the top row will support every other brush tool. Each tool remembers the closest brush you select in that tool. If you are drawing with a small pen and switch to an eraser, change to a larger pen, the small brush will return when you switch back to the painting toolkit.

When you open the application for the first time, each brush tool is selected by default below the corresponding icon, you can set your favorite tool for the initial 4 positions to get regular brushes.

Touch the color tool icon to open up 3 tool options. This tool will set the brush color to medium color. Using this tool with a soft brush, low opacity helps create soft transitions between different colors.

Brushes are rearranged by touch and hold, then drag to the favorite position. Delete the brush by scrolling down the lower part of the brush settings page, selecting the delete button, or dragging the brush outside while moving.

Inkist color palette

The top row of the palette displays the current color and magnifier icon showing the sample color tool. The current color is used for the brush and layer or selector. If touched, a larger color picker will appear on the image. The color picker also includes the option to set the correct RGB color value.

To use the sample color, touch the glass icon at a time and then click on the point on the image you need to take color. Users can also touch and hold the image at any time to choose the color under their fingers.

Inkist tool board

Includes moving, rotating, scaling, resizing canvas, cropping, square / circle / noose selectors, colors / density / brightness, curves, opacity, text, gradients, instructions, reflection and set brushes.

Inkist layer palette

3 layers are always displayed in layer view with preview mode as well as a slider to set the opacity. The layer will be selected by touching it and rearranging by drag. Similar to the brush, you can access more settings options for a layer by touching the selected layer. This adjustment allows you to change the blending modes, fill layers, blend layers, lock opacity and delete all content.

Note that, if you are using layer blending mode instead of normal mode, the layer will appear below normal mode while using the scroll and rotate tool. When you exit the tool and rotate, the layer will display correctly.

The symbols on the controller from left to right are: output / manage documents, set, undo and undo.

While Inkist automatically saves periodic operations , you can save manually at any time by visiting the settings> quick save. If you want to undo the number of steps previously performed and saved in the undo history, you can switch back to the previous manual save point with the setup button. Users can also switch to the side you want the interface to appear in the settings.

Smart gesture system

The gestures are partially customized under the settings button (gear icon)> gestures. Touch and hold gestures to select the color will be turned off, and manipulate 2 fingers double tap and 3 fingers double tap will be fully customized.

Inkist for iPad users can quickly adjust the size and opacity of the currently selected brush by using 2 or 3 fingers swipe up / down for each pen. This gesture is performed on the sidebar containing brushes, colors and tools.

Save and export the file

Inkist for iPad will automatically save the file you are manipulating periodically. If you want to save your workflow manually, you can do so by touching the settings icon on the control panel (gear icon) and touching the quick save button (Quick Save). The work progress will be saved when you access the text browser (the first icon on the control panel).

The entire export process is done from a text browser. To export an image, touch the image you want to export to select them, then press the button labeled with the file format you want to export to (JPEG, PNG, PSD, ISImage).

Inkist will take a few seconds to convert the file to the appropriate type , then a pop-up sharing window will appear allowing you to send via email as an attachment or save the image to a multi-library. iPad media depends on the file type. You can also open photos in other applications on iPad from this item.

If sending PSD files via Email, users should note that the PSD file created from Inkist is quite large when uncompressed. Maybe the file is too big for Email to process and send. Therefore, you should process PSD files through the iTunes file sharing feature or use another professional data management application.

To share files via iTunes with a USB data cable, first create a PSD file by selecting the image and clicking the PSD export button then wait for the pop-up sharing window to appear. At this point, the converted PSD file will be stored in Inkist. Connect your iPad to the computer and watch directly on iTunes. Access the application card, then scroll down to file sharing. Find Inkist in the application list and find the file list. This item will have an ISImage file for everything in the image browser, including the PSD you just exported. Users can save to the computer from this location by dragging the file onto the hard drive or right-clicking and selecting Save As. ISImage files are accessed via iTunes file sharing, PNG, JPEG and PSD files are accessed if you close and reopen the image browser. Users can also use the image browser to import PSD and ISImage files into Inkist.

If you want to access individual layers of images on a Mac or PC, you can use the ISImage file by sending an Email to yourself or using the iTunes file sharing feature as described in on.

On a personal computer, the ISImage file will appear as a folder, and the layer will appear as a .png file in that folder. On a Mac, the ISImage file will appear as text. Right-click on the file and select 'show content package' to see the content containing the individual layer files.

Import file

There are many ways to import files into Inkist. Regular files like PNG, TIFF and JPEG will be stored in the iPad photo library and accessed from the photo browser by clicking the camera icon in the top left corner. PSD and ISImage files will be opened from other applications through the standard Open In function, which is usually accessed by pressing and holding on the text. For example, if you have an ISImage file in your email, press and hold on it until the Open In window opens and use it to open the file in Inkist.

To use the iTunes file sharing function, connect the iPad to a personal computer and view on iTunes. Access the application card, then scroll down to file sharing. This item will have an ISImage file for everything in the image browser, including the PSD you just exported. You can drag PSD and ISImage files into the Inkist file list from this location. The next time you download the Photo browser in Inkist, the file will appear immediately. In the case of PSD files, they will be converted to the ISImage file when you open the image browser. This will take a few seconds.
