If you are used to finding information using Internet search engines like Google, Yahoo . you will definitely link to the Instant Document Search software. This is a document search engine on your computer that has an interface similar to Internet search pages: you type in keywords, then the result will be returned as a part of the found text. with the keywords in bold.

The first time it boots up, the program will ask you to index the documents on your computer. The program will search documents based on this index, and you only have to recreate the index when the files on the computer are changed, added or removed. In the New zone dialog box, enter the name of the index creation area. Finished click OK.

Properties dialog box appears, select the Main tab. In Folder , enter the drives, folders to create indexes. You can click the Add button to browse the drives, folders on the machine.

In the Document types section, select the file formats that the program will index. The program has the ability to create indexes for plain text (TXT), Rich text (RTF), Word (DOC), HTML, and PDF documents.

Click the Advanced tab to specify the conditions for the indexed document. In the Date range field , select the date of the document to be repaired. Item Size range to enter the document size limit (in KB). In Depth , choose 'depth' for indexing: you can create index for the whole file, or only index for the first 500KB, 200KB, 100KB, 20KB of the document. Note, the deeper you choose, the more accurate your search will be, but the indexing process will take quite a while.

Now click OK and wait for the program to create an index.

Once created, the next time the program will start, the program will no longer ask you to create an index, but will immediately enter the search window.

In the Search section, enter the keyword to search. To find a phrase, enclose it in quotation marks. By default, the program will search for documents containing all the keywords entered, so there is no need to insert the AND operator between the keywords.

To find documents that contain one of the keywords entered, you insert the OR operator between the keywords.

If you don't want a keyword to appear in the results, put a minus sign (-) in front of the keyword.

If you find the above rule hard to remember, you can click the . button at the bottom of the Search field and enter the keywords in the following boxes:

- All of these keywords : find documents containing all these keywords.
- All of these keywords : find documents containing one of these keywords.
- None of these keywords : find documents that do not contain these keywords.

Click OK and the program will automatically fill the search expression into the Search section.
In the Print section, select the search area (the area where you created the index at the beginning).

If you want to set the search filter (by name, date, file size .), click the . button at the bottom of Parameters .

Finally press the Go button, the program will find and give results in a flash.

The results page displays the same way you search with Google or Yahoo. Click on the title of each text to open it. If the program finds more than 10 documents, it will display on many pages and you click on the page number at the bottom of the window to switch between pages.
