Apple Music, Apple Podcasts and Apple TV

macOS Catalina replaces iTunes with 3 completely new applications to simplify and improve the way Mac users discover and enjoy their favorite music, TV shows, and podcasts.

App Music is lightning fast, convenient and easy to use with over 50 million songs, playlists and videos. Users can access the entire music library.

The all-new Apple TV includes Apple TV channels, personalized recommendations, and over 100,000 movies and shows to browse, buy or rent. Now users can enjoy 4K HDR movies and Dolby Atmos.

The famous Apple Podcasts offer more than 700,000 programs in the catalog. The app also automatically announces new season notifications as soon as they are available.

Sidecar

With Sidecar, the iPad can be used as a Mac extension monitor and high-precision electronic drawing board. For on-the-go users, Sidecar helps them get things done more conveniently. When paired with an Apple Pencil, they can use the iPad to draw, sketch or write in a Mac application that supports the stylus.

Accessible ability

macOS Catalina introduces new assistive technology so that all users can take full advantage of all the features on Mac. Voice Control allows users to control Mac completely by voice. New labels and grids enable interaction with every application using navigation tools.

Security

With macOS Catalina , Gatekeeper now checks all applications that generate security errors, protecting data by requiring all applications to be granted permissions before accessing user documents. Currently all Macs with T2 Security Chip support Activation Lock to make them less attractive to thieves.

Screen Time

Screen Time gives users an overview of the time they spend on applications or use the web. This tool helps users manage their time smarter. With it, users can schedule daily activities, sync Screen Time settings via iCloud and combine them with iPhone and iPad. All are end-to-end encrypted.

Other great apps

macOS Catalina will also have new APIs and tools available to developers so they can bring more useful applications to the Mac platform. In addition, users can also interact with more applications right on the big screen of the Mac. Starting this fall, Mac users can get the following favorite apps: Jira Cloud, Twitter and Asphalt 9.
