McAfee Stinger 12.1.0.3221 is an independent utility used to detect and remove viruses and malware that can adversely affect your computer system.

Extremely simple main interface of McAfee Stinger

McAfee Stinger is not a complete replacement for an antivirus software, it is a tool to help administrators and users when dealing with a system that has been infected.

The simple and intuitive interface allows users to use it easily: you just need to select the drive or folder to scan and press a button. You can also choose what action to take when detecting a virus (delete, prompt, isolate or rename) or configure the type of file to be scanned.

The main feature of McAfee Stinger

No installation required

Because there is no setup package, users can drop the executable file anywhere on the hard drive and open McAfee Stinger immediately, even save it to USB and scan any suspicious computer. No need to install any programs.

Just note that the storage device should not be set as read-only because the application automatically creates a few files when running as activity log with detailed statistics on each scan. Another important aspect worth mentioning is that McAfee Stinger does not modify the Windows registry settings like other software.

The interface is neat and intuitive

User-friendly McAfee Stinger GUI with clean, intuitive layout. By default, this software only considers suspected system areas with viruses, such as program files and Windows folders. However, users can customize and reduce scanning time by selecting a drive or folder.

Identify and quarantine malware

During the scan, users can view current verified files, time and total number of scanned files along with threats found and cleaned. Every suspicious element is quarantined at a location where the user can decide whether to keep or discard the file. Activity log details are stored in a separate file. Users can edit the default quarantine location, including all scanned files.
