The story begins in a forest near the village of the Rider. 3 young friends - the hero (you are), Lilia and Cheval stumble upon a sparkling egg.

The trio simulated a ritual that made the connection between Rider and the monster like the people in the village, surprisingly it was truly successful. The egg hatches a tiny Rathalos monster - a flying dragon also known as the king of the sky. The trio affectionately called the dragon Ratha and brought it back to the village.

A few days later, without any warning, the village was surrounded by a monster infected with Black Blight. The villagers tried to stop, but it devastated everywhere and left indelible scars in the hearts of Cheval and Lilia.

A year later, you receive a Kinship stone from the village chief and officially become a Rider. Cheval and Lilia one by one leave the village. With no more childhood friends to spend with you, you and Navirou happily embarked on a new adventure in the world of hunters.
