Your computer is in the middle of work and you have things to go out, but you don't feel comfortable leaving your computer alone. The Shutdown Timer will be a great help to assist you in this case.

Sometimes, you are downloading data from the Internet with a large capacity, or the computer is doing a certain job . and it takes a fairly long time to complete. However, you do not want to just sit in front of the computer to wait for the process to complete, but you do not want the computer to continue running after the computer has completed the work (or finished the download process).

Shutdown Timer is a free software that helps users solve the above problem by providing features to schedule the computer to shut down, based on the conditions set by the user.

Instructions for using Shutdow Timer

After installation, the software does not create shortcuts on the desktop, you must find and activate the software in the Sinsive System folder from the Windows Start menu.

Despite being called the Shutdown Timer , the software not only allows users to set a timer to turn off the computer, but also has the option to restart the system, turn off the monitor or the computer to hibernate ( hibernate), Sleep, or even allow the system to automatically activate a certain software or automatically access the website at a certain time .

You can choose the operation you want the software to perform by clicking the menu bar from the software's interface.

Set up operating conditions:

After activating the software and setting the conditions for the software to automatically perform, during the use of the computer, if the status of the system satisfies the established conditions, the Shutdown Timer will automatically execute. the status you have chosen (shutdown, system boot .).

There are 4 types of conditions for users to set the operating mode for the Shutdown Timer, including: time conditions (Time & Date), conditions according to CPU operating parameters (CPU & Memory), conditions under connection Networking and conditions according to process time.

However, the time conditions and the operating status of the memory are the two conditions that are easy to set up and most useful, so the following article shows how to set up with these two conditions.

Automatically perform jobs with a set time:

With this setting mode, the Shutdown Timer will perform a predefined task if it reaches the time (hourly or daily) that you have chosen. To do this, click on Time & Date on the software interface.

The software allows to set a specific time (of all days) or a specific time on a given day. Click the Enable button on the setting item you want to use.

For example, it takes 50 minutes to complete the download process (software that supports the download often displays the amount of time you need to complete the download of the file), thus, you will schedule Windows to automatically shutdown in the next 50 minutes.

To do this, enter the interval for the Shutdown Timer to operate in the When the Time is section . For example, currently 15 hours (15:00), and want to turn off the computer within the next 55 minutes, you would enter 15:55 (system specific time) into the blank box.

In addition, add . minutes to the timer to add a backup period before the Shutdown Timer activates (in case of incomplete work).

The setting is similar to the Date section in case the job takes several days to complete.

After completing the setup, press the Active button to start the Shutdown Timer.

Set based on CPU performance parameters:

In many cases, when the system hangs to do its own job, the system is in a state of CPU operating with 100% performance for a long time, resulting in the system downtime, even, sometimes temperature. CPU's frequency goes up too high for many reasons.

At this time, if there is no user intervening, performing a system shutdown can affect component life. Thankfully, the Shutdown Timer lets you manage and automatically shutdown your computer in this case.

To set the shutdown condition based on the above condition, select CPU & Memory .

There are 3 conditions for users to set:

CPU Usage: if the CPU operates at 100% performance for a certain period of time, the Shutdown Timer will automatically shutdown (or perform the function selected by the user).

CPU Temp: If the CPU temperature reaches the temperature level (set by the user) within a certain period of time, the Shutdown Timer will do its job.

Note: The Shutdown Timer uses the Core Temp software as an accompanying plugin to measure CPU temperature. Therefore, to use this function, you need to enable Core Temp to work in tandem with the Shutdown Timer. Download the free software here.

You should set a temperature that is appropriate for the type of CPU your computer is using.

Memory Usage: setting conditions depending on the amount of free memory. However, this condition is not really common so you do not need to care.

Finally, press the Active button to return the Shutdown Timer to the active state.
