QRreader for Google Chrome

You receive a QR code sent from a friend on your computer, to read it requires you to use a mobile phone. Instead of such effort, the QRreader extension will help you 'decode' the content in the QR code with just a right click from the Chrome browser.

QR codes are a new way to share information (links, messages, addresses, etc.) on phones and most popular mobile phones now have apps for reading QR codes.

But in case you want to read the QR code directly from the browser, the QRreader extension is a good solution. Although there are many software and services that help you read QR codes on your computer, the QRreader extension is able to read QR codes directly from the Chrome browser menu and retrieve the data inside the QR code. You do not need to use a mobile phone or install additional software utility.

Install the extension at the link above> click the Add to Chrome button> select Install in the dialog box that appears. Now, right-click on the QR code you want to read and select Read QR Code from image in the context menu. If the QR code is a URL, the extension will open this URL in a new tag. If the QR code contains text, a phone number or any other data, it will display in a pop-up window and you can copy it to the clipboard (press the OK button). This extension is still in beta and is expected to be updated in the future with more attractive features such as QR code generation.
