Main feature:

Remote access

Remote Utilities is software that allows you to access desktops remotely. That computer can work in the same local area network or be located somewhere in the world. Remote Utilities provides the best remote access capability in any situation.

Fully support control mode and view

Full Control & View is the most frequently used connection mode. In this mode, you can view the remote screen and send keyboard and mouse gestures to the computer. By adopting unique screen capture technology, users can quickly record all activities taking place on the computer.

In the "Full Control & View" window, there is a pop-up toolbar that contains some of the most frequently used commands, including: remote connection options, switching connection modes, sending / taking Clipboard content and more. You can insert the toolbar into your workspace or hide it. Besides, "Full Control & View" mode also supports drag and drop function. You can drag a file or folder from a remote computer or an application window onto your desktop. The files will be copied over a secure channel to your personal computer.

Convert files

Remote Utilities has powerful file conversion capabilities, thus allowing you to transfer large files between many different computers. The " File Transfer " connection mode uses a window interface containing two control panels, thus making it easy to manipulate files and folders.

Remote Utilities allows you to bookmark folders and save frequently used locations. At the same time, you can run a file on the remote computer by selecting it from the list and pressing the Execute button or the F9 hotkey.

Other File Transfer features include:

  • Support multiple tabs in the File Transfer window to open multiple local and remote computers.
  • Support two-way drag and drop from a remote computer to the local computer and vice versa.
  • Restore the download process.
  • Data encrypt.
  • Provides hotkeys for frequently used commands.

Remote preview of folders and screens

When you use Remote Utilities to access hundreds or even thousands of remote computers, creating groups (folders) in the Remote Utilities Viewer is the best way to keep them organized. You can name the directory according to the departments within the organization or city your company is based in or any other criteria you choose. If the Viewer computer is located in an Active Directory network, you can view the AD folder tree directly in the Viewer window.

Picture 4 of Remote Utilities

Address Book Viewer will display remote screens in a thumbnail. This is the default interface when you launch the program for the first time. Additionally, you can view the big screen of a remote computer by moving the mouse pointer to the minimized connection pattern.

Computers are supervised and unattended

Remote Utilities can be used to support supervised and unattended remote computer access. The day when you install the remote server component of Remote Utilities, you give full control over that computer. You can view the screen, control keyboard and mouse gestures, turn the screen on or off, convert files to and from any folder, then restart the remote computer in normal mode. Normal or safe mode. Administrators can even protect server component settings remotely from changes made by someone sitting in front of the computer.

Supervised access mode will be implemented through a remote server component, while Agent mode - a special program that can be launched without installation and administrative rights. In both cases, the administrator can activate the Ask option. They can then ask the remote computer user if they allow or deny connection to their computer.

Direct and indirect connection

Remote Utilities is a very flexible program. Not only does it provide various connection methods and options, but it also gives users the ability to choose between an IP-to-IP connection and an Internet ID connection through an intermediary. Both types of connections work on LANs and over the Internet. Although to establish an IP-to-IP connection directly on the Internet, you will need to have some knowledge of firewall / router configuration such as port forwarding.

Request permission from the user

When this feature is enabled, the program will show a remote user a message asking them to accept or reject the remote connection. This is especially useful in various remote support situations, such as when sensitive information is being viewed on a remote computer or a user is typing a private message.

The additional options are: the ability to disable the feature when no Windows account is logged on on the remote computer and the automatic deny / allow connection tool.

Support multiple users and permissions

Starting with version 5.2, Remote Utilities provides the ability to create multiple user accounts for a single server (remote computer). User accounts can exercise different access rights.

Picture 6 of Remote Utilities

For example, you can create an administrator account that can connect in all modes as well as a limited number of accounts. Each account will have its own password and username.

Remote screen lock

The " Lock Input " feature is absolutely mandatory for any remote computer software. This feature allows you to disable keyboard and mouse cursor actions so that remote users won't interfere with the administrator's workspace.

Picture 7 of Remote Utilities

The " Blank Remote Screen " feature will prevent remote users from seeing what is happening on the screen. You can select a background color, image, text or even a web page to display on the screen when this feature is enabled.

The personal connection properties

Each remote connection item in the Remote Utilities address book (connection list) has its own reference file. This means you don't have to adjust colors, views or other settings every time you connect to a remote computer. You can even save the connection password to avoid having to retype it.

Picture 8 of Remote Utilities

Support for multiple connections at the same time

Remote Utilities supports a series of simultaneous connections in two directions, from the local computer to the remote computer and vice versa.

  • Viewer can connect to multiple servers at the same time (a special tab interface is always available in Viewer).
  • Host can accept connection from multiple Viewer at the same time. For example, some people may be connected to the same remote computer using different connection modes and authorities.

Adjust the colors and support Economode

You can select any color depth for any remote connection. Remote Utilities will display good performance even at 24 bit color depth. In fact, 24 or 16 bit color depth is recommended when working on LAN or over the Internet. You can also set the FPS, thereby adjusting CPU usage.

Economode mode relates to network usage. When it is turned on, the consumption of traffic is greatly reduced, which is suitable for slow networks such as Dial-up or GPRS. Network traffic can be reduced by 10-50 times compared to standard operating mode.

Print remotely

Starting with version 5.4, Remote Utilities allows you to print a remote document on a local computer. Previously, you had to copy a file from a remote server to a local computer, open it in the original application, and print. Now you no longer need to install the original printing application on your local computer.

Connect

Remote Utilities integrates several communication tools that you can use to interact with a remote computer user. These tools are especially useful in a session that supports remote connections because users do not have to install and run any messaging applications. Exchange process can be done right in Remote Utilities.

Chat through text

The " Text Chat " communication tool in Remote Utilities functions similar to an instant messaging application such as Skype or ICQ. Administrators can chat with multiple users at the same time or individually by opening conversations in different tabs in the Text Chat window. Users can change their nicknames in the chat settings and send files or photos to the chat participants.

Chat via video or and by voice

As an administrator, you can start a video or voice chat with a remote user. Users must have speakers or a headset and a microphone. If you activate a video call and the remote computer has a camera, users will be asked if they want to answer by video. During a video chat, both sides can see each other like a video call via Skype. You can change different chat settings such as: turn on and off photo mode, adjust video quality before or during a call.

Send Message

" Send Message " mode allows you to send a simple text message to a remote computer. The message will be displayed on the screen of the remote computer, thereby attracting the user's attention.

Picture 11 of Remote Utilities

This mode is useful when you need to notify remote users of something. If you want to start a conversation, use text chat mode instead.

Monitoring and Monitoring of computers

Remote Utilities can be used to monitor users. As an administrator, you can monitor what is happening on your computer in real time or take screenshots at set intervals. You can also connect to a webcam attached to a remote computer and see what's happening in the computer room.

Support remote recording and video recording mode

The " Remote Camera " connection mode allows you to record video and record audio from a web camera attached to a remote computer and transfer data to a local computer (Viewer). You can watch a live broadcast via a remote web camera and record audio recorded by the microphone. In addition, you can also save the recorded video to a file for later viewing.

When you enable remote webcam connection mode, you will see the window below:

Picture 12 of Remote Utilities

The toolbar gives you several options for this connection mode. For example, you can enable / disable video / audio recording or start / stop video capture. By clicking the Stretch button, you can stretch the screen or switch to 1: 1 view.

The Remote Webcam and Microphone buttons are included in the drop-down menu for you to select the device attached to the remote computer. This is really useful when there are many different multimedia devices. For example, you can switch between a built-in microphone and a standalone microphone directly to a remote computer.

With "Remote Webcam" mode, you can turn a remote computer with a built-in webcam into a surveillance system.

Hide system tray icon

There are a few cases where you need to hide the server's icon in the system tray of the remote computer. This icon may be displayed by default and turns red when the remote computer is enabled. The change in color will notify the user sitting in front of the remote computer that a connection to their computer has been activated.

Remote installation

Remote Utilities has two built-in tools that will assist users with remote installation. You can prepare an MSI installer, then distribute this file on your network using " Remote Install Tool " or "Active Directory '.

MSI configuration

MSI Configurator is a tool available from the Viewer menu. It allows you to build your own version of the installation file for further distribution.

Picture 15 of Remote Utilities

Configuration

There are three types of commonly used output configurations:

  • Standard MSI package: This is the best one to be deployed using AD group policy.
  • One-Click Package: Suitable for "silent" installation. A remote user only has to run the file and the installation will be done in the background of the computer.
  • Agent package: This option helps you create your own customized version. For example, you can add logos and insert text for the program.

Each option allows you to pre-configure the settings that the remote server will have after installing from a custom file. For example, you can build your copyright information and the program will be registered with your key after installation. Or, you can specify an Internet ID server that must be used by the remote server to connect mediated. All options available in the server settings can be modified for the installation file.

Deployment

After you have customized the MSI file (standard package) or the .exe file (One-click or Agent package), you need to decide how to deploy it. To install a server on an unattended network, you can deploy a standard or one-click package using either the Remote Install tool from the built-in or the AD group policy. For the Agent package, you can upload customized versions to your web server and create links that are available to your customers.

The Remote Install and Update tools are built in

The Remote Install tool will allow you to deploy the Remote Utilities application on a network or update / upgrade an existing installation package. This tool is available in the main menu of Remote Utilities Viewer.

Picture 16 of Remote Utilities

You can install, uninstall, upgrade, start, stop and restart the server. The Remote Install tool also provides an installation log for you to check if something goes wrong.

Support proxy server and bypass firewall

Like many other remote monitoring applications or software, Remote Utilities uses a technology that allows users to easily bypass firewalls when connecting via the Internet. In Remote Utilities, this feature is called "Internet ID". Besides, Remote Utilities also supports many other capabilities such as supporting proxy server, a feature "connect via server" and callback connection. These features come with Internet ID that will support remote connections in any network environment.

Internet ID

With the " Internet ID " feature enabled, you can connect to any remote computer using its unique ID (in alphanumeric order) and a password. This eliminates the need to configure a router or firewall and establishes a rule for port forwarding, which is too complicated and time-consuming for most users.

Support proxy server

Sometimes there is a proxy server that is located on the company's network port and allows connections to and from the network. In this case, you need to configure access via proxy in both Host and Viewer.

When configuring access via proxy, you should keep in mind that proxy settings on the server are common and on Viewer, these settings can be specified for each remote connection.

Connecting via server

A computer with Remote Utilities installed can act like an intermediate server to provide remote connection to another computer. This feature is called " Connect through host ".

Connection callback

You can enable a connection on the remote computer in the opposite direction. You will be prompted to enter the password for the "gateway PC" and for the destination computer that you want to connect to.
