SelfImage 1.2.1.92

Creating a copy (image file) of data to prevent unfortunate incidents can be considered a necessary problem for computer users. Currently, there are many software to support data backup and recovery. SelfImage is the following freeware, which can be the perfect tool you need in your computer.

For SelfImage, you can back up each file, each partition (disk C, D, E, F . is the part divided from the hard disk), or shared storage devices over the network ( NBD - network block devices).

Backup:

You follow these steps:

-Choose the type of source data you need to backup: Files, drives (partitions), or other storage devices on the network. If you choose NBD, enter the server name or IP address in the Host box, the port number in the Port box (this port number is opened on the server to create multiple servers in one machine).

-Select the compression level for image files (Compress Image): There are 3 levels of compression is gzip (fast - image files are created a little faster than normal, low compression level); gzip (best - the compression level is higher than gzip (fast), the speed of creating image files is fast; bzip2 (the highest level of compression, the image creation time is only half of that of gzip (best)). Normally (without compression), choose None at this step.

-In the Output window, there are 3 types of data export: image file, partition, and NBD. Choose one of three types, name the image file, and then press the Start button to export the file.

Note: SelfImage allows you to map directly from partition to partition. However, you should not try it unless you know what you are doing. Because the data in the target partition will be damaged by the data from the source partition mapping into. Ideally, you should select the output file as the image file.

Rehibilitate:

The data to recover can be a partition or an image file you created earlier. If the data is a partition, click Drive in the Input box and select the partition to recover. In the Output section, you also choose Drive (because the partition when restored will also be a partition). Finally, click the Start button, then wait for the program to process. In case there are 2 or more hard drives in the machine, SelfImage will list the hard drives in order of Harddisk0, Harddisk1, Harddisk2 . You choose the right hard drive to recover and perform.

For data to be restored as an image file, select file operation and save location after the same recovery in the backup. However, in this section, if the source data is compressed (when creating a copy), you want the data to return to normal (uncompressed) after recovery, remember to press the Decompress Source button before clicking Start .

If you are recovering data from a networked storage device, enter the full hostname or IP address, port number, and device name, and then click Start as in the backup.
