ShareCrypt is an effective tool for storing encrypted files on local drives, shared folders on a network, and syncing cloud files. The tool provides user-based access to directories and their content.

Storing files in the cloud backup or backup service can compromise data if unauthorized access is obtained by others. Data may be the subject of fraudulent employees, court orders or law enforcement requests. Conventional services like Dropbox, Google Drive and Microsoft SkyDrive do not provide data security in these cases; Data can be encrypted through the use of cryptographic keys in the service possession.

With ShareCrypt, you have complete control over your important data ensuring that only you can access the data and block any unauthorized access (including the host company).

ShareCrypt allows you to split data and restrict access; The finance department can prevent IT department from accessing their files, HR department can prevent financial department from accessing employee data, so IT can ensure that the data has been be backed up and authenticated. Even with these precautions, certain users may be granted access to some or all of the data area.

ShareCrypt is easy to use, it provides a virtual drive that only users with access can see all data areas. The files are individually encrypted with AES 256 bit keys, the code is hashed with the user password via SHA 256. New user requests are encrypted with public - private RSA 2048 bits.

In ShareCrypt, the client user creates a new area (with its own 256-bit AES encryption key) and invites or grants users access to the area. Once the access to that area has been granted, the area key will be shared with the new user and hashed with the new user password. Can set permissions read, write and admin for each user, each region. Each user is given access to an area where files can be used in the usual manner with shared folders.

The only thing an admin has to do is create an empty shared drive / folder that is capable of read / write access over the network (be it local network drive or Internet drive).

System administrators can manage encrypted files and manage data backup in the normal way without accessing the file content.

ShareCrypt does not require any software installation on the file server. In this way, all CIFS / SMB server systems such as MS Windows, Novell Netware 6 and UNIX with Samba are supported.

ShareCrypt is fully expandable and allows you to create and manage an unlimited number of encrypted drives / folders. (Encrypted drive is also not limited.)

System requirements:

Currently ShareCrypt works on Windows :

  • On the client (Windows 2000 / XP 32 bit or 64 bit / Vista 32 bit or 64 bit and Windows 7).
  • On the Server (NT / 2000 / XP / Novell Netware6 / Unix with Samba, .).
