SmartPower is a utility designed to help users turn off the computer, switch to Hibernate mode according to the previous settings or vice versa.

SmartPower is a free software that will work as a Windows service, allowing users of all levels to use it.

The program has a simple interface with a neat layout that allows you to set the necessary parameters easily.

SmartPower supports the ability to keep a computer running under certain conditions. Users can set a plan to turn on / off the computer for each day of the week and can choose the start and end time.

This feature is suitable for computers that operate regularly 24/7. Instead of leaving the computer running full time, users can set the time to switch the computer to Hibernate mode to save power and "wake up" at a certain time to perform the operation.

In addition, this tool can also maintain the operation of the computer when a user logs in, when using an IP address or hostname, when network traffic exceeds a certain value or even when the level of usage CPU usage exceeds certain threshold.

Some noteworthy features of SmartPower include the ability to create a list of running applications, catch or turn on some system services to specify the time before officially shutting down the computer.

SmartPower uses quite a few resources on the CPU and RAM so it does not affect the operation of the computer.

If you are looking for ways to manage your computer effectively and save power, SmartPower is the right tool.

Set up the user in the Users tab:

User activity is monitored by the SmartPower Idle Monitor application . This program will start automatically when the user logs on to the computer.

SmartPower Idle Monitor does not display the interface and only reports on the time the user spends the computer (using a keyboard or mouse). When a user is using a computer, SmartPower will detect and maintain operations for the computer. When there are no more users after a certain period of time, SmartPower will return the device to the previously selected Hibernate , Suspend or ShutDown .

  • Stay on when there are active users : tick this option to enable user supervision.
  • Users are considered inactive after : enter the interval (number of minutes) for the user to display Inactive after the last activity was recorded.

Set up Networks:

When it detects that the computer is using a network, SmartPower will help the computer to maintain its operation. The amount of capacity (in bytes) transmitted and in every second will be recorded and compared with the specified value. If the number is lower than this threshold then SmartPower will perform the operation in Target power state.

  • Stay on when traffic on any network interface is above a threshold : Check this option to enable network monitoring.
  • Network interfaces : mark the name of Network interfaces to enable monitoring of network interfaces. Then, click on the Network interface name and use the Threshold for selected interface dialog box to adjust the threshold value.

CPU setting:

CPU monitoring feature will monitor CPU usage, if it exceeds a specified value, SmartPower will help the computer to maintain operation and vice versa.

  • Stay on when CPU usage is above a threshold: Check this option to enable CPU monitoring.
  • CPU% threshold: specify the CPU usage threshold (in percentage).

This feature checks to see if any applications on the computer are using Power requests , such as programs running in Display power , System power, or Away mode .

  • Display power : check this box to enable Display power monitoring . If the program is using this feature, the computer will still turn on,
  • System power: check this box if you want to monitor System power . This mode is commonly used in programs such as media player, download software, virus scanner or backup program.
  • Away mode : tick this option to enable Away mode monitoring.
