Switcher

While working with many open programs and windows, you may sometimes feel lost in your workspace. Folders are stacked in groups and top windows, making it harder to switch to another desired window quickly. We can easily use 'Outtasight' - a free Windows utility that can hide running programs and applications instantly using a keyboard shortcut.

But in some cases, you don't want to hide program windows, but want to access them quickly. Windows provides a "Alt + Tab" keyboard shortcut feature that allows you to switch between open windows using the hotkey combination Alt and Tab.

You can switch between programs using the "Tab" keys and once the desired program window is selected, just press the Tab key and the window will appear in the screen. It serves well but if you want something full featured and want more control over program windows, try Switcher. You can download it for free at the following address: https://insentient.net/

It's a free Windows Alt Tab utility that makes switching between windows a breeze. Switcher works in Windows Vista and Windows7 with "Aero" style enabled.

Assign shortcut keys:

Before using the program, to maximize its potential, open the application settings and customize keyboard and mouse shortcuts.

Launch the program and go to "shortcut". Next, assign your favorite key and mouse off. I like using keyboard shortcuts because it's quick and you don't have to remember anything or press any buttons to instantly switch to windows. Just move the mouse pointer to the top left area of the screen edge, the program will freeze the screen and ask you to select the window you want to switch to.

If you want to cancel the transition to the window, press Esc and the program will return you to the last window.

Show on screen

If you want to show the full screen in the window selection, go to Application settings> Appearance and select Show the desktop as a Window .

Use different types of views and search

You can use the keyboard shortcuts F2 and F3 to view the Dock and view the grid respectively. This helps a lot, especially when you have several open windows of the same type. For example: You are working on documents with 4-5 word files and then you can use the grid to see the decision on which document you want to switch to.

To search for Window Title, move the cursor to the left end of the screen edge and activate Switcher. Once activated, simply start typing the probable title of the program window (eg Firefox or Microsoft) and Switcher will choose the closest one and switch to the automatic window.

Other features include: window filtering and exclusion from program options. You can start the program automatically on Windows at startup and let Switcher remember your settings throughout the Windows session.
