Untar has the ability to extract files in .7z, .tar, .tar.gz, .tgz, .tar.z, .z, .gz, .svgz .Z, .tar.Z, .taz,. tar.bz, .tar.bz2, .tbz, .tbz2, .bz, .bz2, .rar, and .zip.

Untar is available for Mac OS X users and you can download and use them for free. Source code is also included for developers who love the software and are available under the GNU Public License. For those who need more 'power' to compress files, try using the GUI Tar software.
