Vienna is an RSS / Atom reader for Mac OS X, designed with many powerful features to help you automatically retrieve news that has been structured in RSS format. Some RSS reader software allow you to schedule news updates. With this powerful RSS reader, you can click on the title of a news article to read a summary of or open the content of the entire news in a default browser window.

What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a data format based on XML standards, used in sharing Web news (Web syndication) used by many news websites. Using the news reader will help you always see the latest news.

To build Vienna, you need:

  • Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and XCode 4.
  • The Git client is up to date and has basic knowledge of using Git. GitHub provides a free GUI client that works quite well.
  • To make changes to the Vienna source code, you need a working knowledge of Objective-C and the Cocoa framework.

The Vienna source code is checked (or cloned, according to Git regulations) into a directory whose path has no spaces. This is a limitation of the project file that will probably be fixed in the future, but for now, make sure that the full path to the Vienna source directory does not have any gaps in it.
