FreeArc - A utility to compress and decompress files

FreeArc is an open source file extractor and decompressor. This program is widely known for its high level of file compression. This software uses many compression algorithms such as LZMA, PPMD, TrueAudio, Tornado and GRzip, and these algorithms will automatically change according to the file type to be compressed. Users can also use these compression methods along with many different filters.

Like many other file compression programs, FreeArc also supports the ability to integrate into the right-click menu in Windows Explorer. However, different with many applications, this utility offers users a lot of options. You can right-click on a file or folder to create a new archive or extract it. Besides these basic options, this software also allows users to encrypt and protect files, store file paths, update modes and add comments on files.

FreeArc has a fairly simple interface so you will not spend too much time getting used to and proficient in using the software.

This utility also allows you to convert the archive file into the original format or to the SFX format and also allows the compressed file lock to prevent any changes.

If you are looking for an alternative to popular decompressors, then FreeArc is the perfect choice for you.
