SurplusMeter is an alternative to Mac OS X's bandwidth monitoring tool which is limited on a per application basis. SurplusMeter will make the job of monitoring traffic more clearly, alerting you when you are approaching that value. Therefore, if you have a broadband internet service with a monthly download limit, SurplusMeter will be the best option.

The downside of SurplusMeter, however, is that it doesn't distinguish between network traffic and Internet traffic. So if you are a regular backup user on the computer network, the parameters measured from SurplusMeter will not be accurate.
