ThinVNC - Access remote computers

Introduce to you how to control or access a remote computer via a web browser with ThinVNC application. It sounds very interesting, but with the advanced technology platform of HTML5, it is sooner or later that users can watch YouTube videos without installing Flash Player.

In essence, to control any computer using VNC, this model needs a separate server module and viewer (client). However, with ThinVNC, all you need is to install the server module, which will be accessible to all computers from anywhere with a web browser that supports HTML5 technology. Currently, only Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Opera fully support HTML5, and Internet Explorer users will have to wait until the official release of IE9.

ThinVNC is built on the advantages of AJAX, JSON and HTML5 canvas technologies to bring superior Remote Desktop functionality through the browser, using popular HTTP and SSL protocols. No need to install additional plugins or add-ons that support the client, ThinVNC is the best way to ensure that you are connected to any computer from anywhere.

The process of setting up and setting up the ThinVNC server is quite simple and easy. The main interface of ThinVNC will look as follows:

On the General tab, set the feature to allow or deny access from any connection using the account verification process, by default, the account name and password will be admin . Click the Start Server button to begin setting up and authorizing the connection. Selecting the Auto-start box allows this server to automatically run on the system, not the application software. If you want ThinVNC to automatically activate when Windows starts, select File on the main menu bar, and select Install as Windows Service . At the HTTP tag, you need to initialize the port value and decide to use the HTTP or HTTPS protocol.

For client computers, if you want to connect to the ThinVNC server, use certain HTML5-enabled browsers like Google Chrome and type the IP address associated with the initialization port, for example, https:///192.168.1.1:8080 and press Enter. Notify the server identity and click Connect , then the system will ask you to log in with a separate account. The console will come with a control item above, you can turn this function on or off, display the mouse pointer, freeze the screen, refresh the screen, crop the frame, switch to 256 color mode to Easier 'control' or disconnection from the server:

ThinVNC also integrates a number of other features that help users to display the desktop or select separate hard drive partitions for users to manipulate over the Internet, allowing to perform some manipulations and invite others. To participate in this demonstration, each participant will be provided with userid / password information associated with creating an ad-hoc model online. To access the ThinVNC Presentation Manager, right-click the ThinVNC icon under the system tray and select Start Presentation , then assign the emails of the people you want to invite to the presentation and select the application to join. The server must start first, when starting this Presentation mode, the other options will be dimmed:

Also in this test, we tried to use the TightVNC viewer to connect to the ThinVNC server but failed. When you start making connections, the system still displays the full message but will end with disconnection. Naturally, no one uses the VNC viewer while being able to directly connect via a browser that supports HTML5 technology. Another small bug checks the ability to split images with ThinVNC in Firefox or Opera, the interaction of the cursor is not controlled properly, the movement and operation will be very inaccurate.

With the above features, ThinVNC is really useful, easy to use, stable, light and completely free. But the program lacks a number of other features such as data management, chat and supports a number of other operating system platforms.
