How Link2SD works

Application link

1. Link2SD uses the second partition on the SD memory card and uses it as another part of internal memory.
2. Link2SD moves apk files, dalvik-cache (.dex), lib and internal memory data into this partition, where the operating system mounts on boot and creates a symbolic link in the original location.
3. This maintains the file structure that the system needs while a large amount of data has been moved to the SD memory card.

Link obb folder and external memory data of apps and games

1. On devices that have emulated SD memory cards, the obb folder and external data reside in the internal memory, not on the external SD memory card.
2. Link2D moves the directories into the 1st or 2nd partition of the external SD card (depending on the region you choose) and with the binding option, the file hierarchy on the external SD card while it is still available at original location.

What to do to install Link2D for Android

• Part 2 area on SD card

You need to have 2 regions on the SD card. You need to use the non-FAT file system (ext2, ext3, ext4 or f2fs) on partition 2 to link the application's personal data. This is because the FAT file system (FAT16, FAT32 or exFAT) does not support the ownership or permission of UNIX files and causes security problems of application private files.

Link2SD doesn't create the second partition, you need to create it yourself.

Link obb directory and external data of applications and games

2nd partition on SD memory card is optional, folders can be moved to 1st or 2nd partition of SD memory card.
