Directory List & Print - Print or save a directory listing to a file

There is an easy way to print and save directory listings using a free tool. Directory List & Print 2.11.11.1 allows you to create directory lists that can be customized, saved as files, and printed.

Note: There is a free version and a Pro Directory List & Print version. Some features in the free version will be disabled and only available in the Pro version for $ 20. However, the free version still offers a lot of useful features to create directory listings you can print or save.

Directory List & Print is a portable program that does not need to be installed. Simply extract the downloaded zip file.

One of the particularly handy features of Directory List & Print is the ability to add options to the Explorer menu context for folders. This allows you to quickly create a list for a folder in Explorer. To do this, you must manually run the program as an admin. Right-click on the .exe file and select Run as administrator from the popup menu .

When the program opens, select Add to Directory Context Menu from the Setup menu.

To create a directory listing, right-click a folder in Windows Explorer and select Open in Directory List + Print from the popup menu.

The program will open and a list of selected folders displayed in the text box at the bottom of the window is always displayed, without affecting which tabs are active at the top of the window. . The folder tab will display allowing you to select a folder and set your own preferences, or folders from which you can create normal lists. A number of popular system directories have been added to Favorites for easier access.

The Selection tab will allow you to specify what is displayed in the folder list, such as date, time, and size.

The Output tab allows you to send a list of folders to a printer or copy the list to the clipboard to paste into any word processor, word processor, or other program that accepts plain text. You can also open directory listings in Word or Excel right in Directory List & Print.

For example, this is a directory listing of mp3 files in Excel. The columns are automatically placed into columns in the spreadsheet.

We also copied the list to the clipboard and pasted it into Notepad. These columns are divided into equally spaced intervals as a table.

Because Directory List & Print is not installed, there will be no shortcuts for desktop programs. You can add shortcuts using the standard Windows method, or you can easily add a shortcut to the desktop from within the program. Simply select Add Program Shortcut to the desktop from the Setup menu.

If you want to have a list of folders on a network drive, use the Network Drive options on the Setup menu in Directory List & Print . You can also drag and drop a folder from Windows Explorer into the program window to quickly create a listing of that item.
